BREATHABLE FABRIC

Protects From Unexpected Rains

Crafted from premium 8oz Waxed Cotton Canvas, this rugged survival poncho is designed to protect you in harsh weather with style and durability. The outer canvas is treated with wax which repels water, keeping you warm and dry. Unlike synthetic materials, the breathable canvas allows air to move through the fibres so the Drifter doesn't become too hot and stuffy.

SOFT LINING

Stay Warm, Dry and Protected

Whether you are sitting at camp in the evening or wandering around in a forest, hiking in the wilderness of nature or watching storms raging around, this tough gear is your shield in all weathers, no matter what nature throws at you!

Crafted To Age With You & Last For Generations

That's our promise. In an era where quick fixes and throwaway culture dominate, we make it to last and select premium heritage materials like waxed cotton canvas, real brass hardware, and vegetable-tanned leather. In fact, the longer you own a Jack Stillman, the better it looks for your next adventure.

Sleeves

2 x custom brass buttons on the side of The Drifter create sleeves for added protection and movability.

Waterproof Zip

The genius of The Drifter is the waterproof YKK zipper in the middle. Zipped, it keeps the moisture locked to the waxed side. Unzipped it turns The Drifter into a poncho.

Hoist Loops

4 x reinforced cotton webbing loops on each corner for pegging The Drifter to the ground or hoisting aloft for an emergency shelter.

Story of Jack Stillman

Did you know Jack was a real person? Our Grandfather in fact. His story is intertwined with ours and each piece of gear we make.

In the heart of Australia, the spirit of Jack Stillman is woven into the very fabric of our heritage gear. Jack, an ex-Australian Navy man, faced the fury of North African naval warfare during WWII, only to return and traverse the vast landscapes of Australia, sharing stories of faith and hard work.

Our journey began in 2014, inspired by this epiphany and drawing from his military background and motorcycle adventures. We are more than just a brand. We're a proud family business that holds traditional values dear, valuing experiences over the superficial, and cherishing bonds over profit. Today, we are Jack Stillman's legacy.

FAQs

Waxing fabric is a natural way of protecting the fabric and whoever is under it. The wax finish causes water to bead off instead of soaking into the fibres. The advantage is that this method of proofing the fabric also allows it to breathe, unlike the plastic treatment options found in waterproof fabrics.

No. The Drifter is water-resistant. The 8oz cotton canvas outer material is treated with wax which naturally repels water. This trusted method has been used for centuries by sailors and soldiers to protect against the elements. The advantage to this over plastic-coated materials is that The Drifter breathes naturally, is biodegradable, and oozes old-school charm.

The Drifter comes with a coating of wax so it's good to go for your very next adventure. You can (and we recommend) re-wax your Drifter throughout its lifetime. We recommend once per year or after washing to maintain the water resistance and overall longevity of the product.

We recommend washing The Drifter sparingly. If you need to wash it, use a cold, gentle machine wash with minimal detergent. Harsh washing will remove the protective wax coating but this can be re-applied when dry.

Since 2018, we have made 95% of our Jack Stillman products in-house in our facility in Vietnam. We own and maintain our own specialised machines and the majority of our small operational team has been with us since we started. It is because of this that we can confidently offer our lifetime warranty. To learn more about our manufacturing, read this.
